He mentioned the Slovak language law as an outstanding example of negative discrimination. Mr Kosa called the attention of the Swedish government that is in charge of the EU Presidency at the moment: the newly passed Slovak law constraints grievously the freedom of language use. He called upon the Swedish government to stand firmly for the freedom of language use in Europe. “I want a Europe where the freedom of language use cannot be a manner of dispute” – the MEP stated.
The speech given in sign language by Mr Kosa proves that Europe can be the continent of diversity, tolerance and equal opportunities. Mr Kosa’s contribution was followed by a burst of applause.
